Llopart raises €6,202 for childhood cancer
The winery has handed over to Amics Joan Petit foundation the annual profits from the Most Flor de Xarel·lo.
The Llopart family has once again donated the solidarity contributions received in 2023 to the Amics Joan Petit – children with cancer foundation. On February 10, the entity’s president Joan Torner, accompanied by other foundation trustees, received a check for €6,202. This amount accumulated by the Penedès winery represents 10% of the entire solidarity fund received by the foundation last year. The most prominent action carried out in 2023 at Llopart was the solidarity concert by Ramon Mirabet, thanks to the attendance of more than 300 people, organized by the Music Veu Festival. Every year, the Llopart winery allocates the solidarity collaborations received with the consumption of its Most Flor to the solidarity fund of Joan Petit’s foundation. They also collaborate with the purchase of the children’s book Culleres que cuiden, a nutrition guide for children and adults with cancer, illustrated by the tireless Pilarín Bayés.
The Amics Joan Petit – Children with Cancer foundation aims to raise funds for research, support, and care for children with cancer and their families. The money raised in the last year has been allocated to fund research on sarcomas, which are malignant tumors formed by the saturation of mesodermal cells. Research carried out by the Childhood Cancer and Hematological Diseases group at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital, led by Drs. Miquel Segura and Josep Roma.
The Llopart project was born ten years ago, with the first bottled vintages of Llopart’s Most Flor de Xarel·lo and is part of the winery’s range known as La Vida Secreta de las Plantas (The Secret Life of Plants). The must is made from Xarel·lo grapes harvested in the estate’s vineyards, the grapes are hardly pressed as only the must that drains by gravity is used. It is 100% natural, with 0% alcohol, without any additives, simply pasteurized lightly after bottling.
