Original 1887

2012

The first edition of the Llopart Original 1887 Brut Nature 2012 in Magnum format, a sparkling wine that captures the essence of the first bottle of 1887. With a blend of Montònega, Xarel-lo and Macabeo, this Original is an edition that does not exceed 301 bottles and that stands out for its vitality, freshness and prolonged taste in the mouth. Singular characteristics considering that it is a Corpinnat with such a long aging.

Liquid Memory

The history of these wines that we present in the collection format of the Enoteca Familiar is the history of our landscape, of the more than twenty-five generations that we have cared for this land and that we have converted its fruit into reflections of light captured in bottles: the liquid memory of the Family Estate.

For years, convinced of the aging potential of our CORPINNATs, we have reserved a few bottles of each vintage. Of these, a limited selection now emerges from the still darkness of the cellar to reveal the secrets of time.

Llopart Original 1887 was born with the desire to perpetuate the family winemaking traditions of the 19th century. It is made only with grapes from the oldest mountain vines from Les Flandes. On this location Montònega grapes (high-altitude Parellada) predominated long time ago. The Montònega grape becomes here the protagonist of the blend (50%), together with Xarel·lo (25%) and Macabeu (25%).

Llopart Ex·Vite combines Llopart’s history and heritage and takes its name from the family motto Ex Vite Vita (life comes from the vine). It ages majestically with dignity and elegance. The expedition liqueur is made according to a genuine oenological formula from the end of the 19th century with the estate’s own noble Xarel·los wines. Ex·Vite blends 60% Xarel·lo from Pere de Can Ros’s vineyard from 1934 and Isidoro’s vineyard from 1981, and 40% Macabeu, from Pere de Can Ros’s vineyard, planted in 1956.

The Legendary Vintages collection presents the 2009 vintage of the Original and the 2008 vintage of the Ex·Vite, two bottles that are pure emotion for us and that have been exceptionally well received by local, national, and international critics. They represent very carefully what we want to express with our very long-aged sparkling wines.

Pedro Ballesteros, Master of Wine, highlighted in the tasting of the prestigious Decanter magazine that the Original 1887 is a wine “very close to perfection” and that it is “pure Penedès”, in addition to distinguishing it with 97 points in the sparkling wine tasting published last March 2021.

Ex·Vite 2008 was Platinum award with 98 points and considered the best wine of the Decanter 2018 edition. It was chosen by Steven Spurrier for the masterclass at The Great Sparkling Exploration fair in London.

A historic flagship of the house, the result of a special blending, selection of the best single-varietal wines that stand out for their elegance and evolutionary potential. Made in honor of Bernardus Leopardi, the first winemaker of the family, documented in a Latin manuscript parchment of 1385, from which the typography of the label is inspired.

Its blend combines the varieties Xarel·lo (45%), Macabeu (40%), and Parellada (15%).
