Llopart culminates Leopardi’s 40th birthday with novelties
Llopart presents its most recent additions culminating the 40th birthday of Leopardi. The inauguration of the new Enoteca Familiar space and the presentation of three new sparkling wines: the magnum Llopart Original 1887 from the 2012 vintage, the magnum Llopart Leopardi from the 2013 vintage and the latest vintage of the 2010 Llegat Familiar.
To commemorate the 40th birthday of Llopart Leopardi, one of Llopart’s most iconic and representative sparkling wines, the winery is releasing a limited edition of 334 bottles in magnum format of the 2013 vintage. The Llopart Leopardi Magnum Brut Nature 2013, with a blend of Xarel·lo 45%, Macabeu 40% and Parellada 15%, aged over 120 months, is a tribute to the Llopart family’s ancestor, Bernardus Leopardi, who received the Can Llopart estate in the 14th century. It was Pere Llopart Vilarós, and Jacinta, in 1983, when they presented this sparkling wine with 6 years of aging from the 1976 vintage, for the first time.
Another novelty is the launch of the Llopart Original 1887 Magnum, vintage 2012. It will be possible to taste 301 bottles in this format, keeping 60 more for continued aging in the family wine cellar. This sparkling wine, recalling the first creation of 1887, is a coupage of Montònega 50%, Xarel·lo 25% and Macabeu 25% from centenary vines from the Flandes of Llopart estate. Recently, the Llopart Original 1887, one of the winery’s longest aged sparkling wines, has been selected in the top 100 of the Wine Enthusiast guide, thus becoming the Spanish sparkling wine at the top of this list where the best one hundred wines in the world in 2023 appear.
The expansion of the Enoteca Familiar space has become a milestone for the winery, housing around 30,000 bottles that make up the library of the vintages of Llopart’s most emblematic sparkling wines. This exclusive space houses, among other jewels, all the vintages of the Llegat Familiar, the family’s flagship wine that pays tribute to the dedication and passion passed down through the generations and in particular the fourth generation, headed by his parents, Pere and Jacinta.
The inauguration coincided with the launch of the new vintage of Llopart Llegat Familiar Brut Nature 2010, where the sixth generation, represented by Ester Cardús Llopart, symbolically placed the first bottle of the 2007 vintage on the market. Of this vintage, 1,061 bottles were disgorged, followed by a half-year rest before release, while 270 bottles continue to age with their yeast in the Enoteca Familiar. This 100% Xarel·lo wine from the Paulino vineyard, planted in 1935, promises a rich, complex expression, full of nuances and textures that have been acquired over time.
