Pick, stomp and taste:
Harvest Festival at Llopart
Last September 3rd took place the annual grape harvest day we organized to share with you, hand in hand, the excitement of these days in Llopart. This year we designed a harvest event that placed the grape as the main protagonist, as it could not be otherwise.
We started the day harvesting more than twenty varieties of Vitis Vinifera from our ampelographic garden. With the grapes as our passports, and under the guidance of Jordi Bort, sommelier and general manager of Llopart, we took a tour throughout the world of wine. Tasting the different varietals, we discovered the uniqueness of our native grapes, a reflection of our territory and deeply rooted in the landscape at the heart of the Penedès.
After the grape tasting, we continued the visit to the Xarel·lo vineyard of Sobre Caves, where we learned about the importance of manual harvest and organic viticulture, and we filled the baskets with bunches of grapes to stomp them and obtain the must. With the work done, Marc Ventura, winemaker of the house, accompanied us into the vinification cellar, and with him, we tasted the grape juice of the 2022 vintage directly from the vats.
In Can Llopart farmhouse (14th century), with privileged views of the Penedès and the Montserrat Mountain, chef Oriol Llavina, from the restaurant El Cigró d’Or, was waiting for us with the table ready. The Llopart family, the house team, and the grape pickers-for-a-day enjoyed together a harvest menu specially designed to pair with our Corpinnat.
A memorable day!
