Llopart Llegat Familiar,
Best Wine in Catalonia for the Catalan Wines Guide
The winery has handed over to Amics Joan Petit foundation the annual profits from the Most Flor de Xarel·lo.
Llopart Llegat Familiar was recognized by the Guia de Vins de Catalunya (Catalan Wines Guide) as the Best Wine of the Edition, the Best Sparkling Wine and the Best Xarel·lo Sparkling Wine, in a triple recognition that was made public at the Best of the Guide Gala.
This is the third consecutive year that the Guia de Vins de Catalunya has placed this Corpinnat on the podium of the best wines in the country: the Llegat Familiar has won several awards in the categories of Best Traditional Sparkling Wine, for the 2008 vintage; Best Xarel lo Sparkling Wine, for the 2010 vintage and this year’s triple recognition, for the 2011 vintage. A concatenation that, for the winery, is “a symbol of the excellence that this wine seeks.” According to Jordi Alcover, Silvia Naranjo and Fran Ortiz, co-directors of the Guide, the 2011 vintage presents a balance that has hit the nail on the head: “it achieves an optimal meeting point between fruit, acidity and autolysis. Behind it, in addition, it has the will of an equally historic family and all the argumentative support of the Corpinnat group.”
Llegat Familiar is Llopart’s longest-aged sparkling wine, made from a single variety and a single vineyard: Paulino’s vineyard, a Xarel lo planted in 1935. It is a very limited edition, with around 900 bottles of the 2011 vintage going on sale, which have been aged for a minimum of 156 months. The first vintage, the 2007 harvest, was released in 2021, and was created as a tribute to Pere Llopart and Jacinta Llopart, parents of the winery’s current generation of winemakers. With this bottle, the five children who are co-owners want to “pay tribute to the rigour, honesty and perseverance” of their parents, and to the “passion of a lifetime dedicated to the harmonious transformation of the fruit of the earth”.
